Funeral services for Vernon Pederson of Starbuck will be held Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. at East Zion Lutheran Church,Starbuck. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck and will continue for one hour prior to services. Vernon Pederson, 83, of Starbuck, went home to Jesus on Dec. 21, 2009. Vernon was born to Elmer and Mable (Knutson) Pederson on June 6, 1926. He was baptized and confirmed in his beloved East Zion Lutheran Church in which his grandfather and great uncles were founders.
Pauline Jost, age 89, formerly of Osakis went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 from the Lakeview Good Samaritan Home in Glenwood, where she had been a resident. Pauline Anna Theresa Thralow was born on June 20, 1920 in Morris to Frank and Amanda (Zahl) Thralow. She was united in marriage to William Jost on Dec. 21, 1936 in Sisseton, S.D. The lived and worked near Morris for many years, where Bill worked as a sales representative and Pauline helped with his business and raised their four children. After their retirement in 1970, they moved to Osakis.
Peter Reque, age 80, of Alexandria, passed away on Dec. 18, 2009 at the Saint Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Peter Richard Reque was born Feb. 21, 1929 in Graceville, to Reverend Paul S. and Amanda (Holvick) Reque. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, where he lived until 1939. He was confirmed at Orfordville Lutheran Church in Wisconsin in 1943.
Funeral services for Kayden Hansen, infant son of Bethany Hansen, were held Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Rob Jarvis officiated. Burial was at Summit Cemetery in Morris. Kayden Andrew Hansen was born on April 23, 2009 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. He and his loving mother, Bethany Hansen, made their home in Alberta. Kayden was also lucky enough to live with his grandparents, Ardyn and Lorie Hansen, who cherished the opportunity to share in the daily joys of having Kayden and Bethany in their home.
Donavan Tolifson, age 84 of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away on Sept. 28, 2009. Don was born on Dec. 8, 1924 in Windom, Minn. where he worked as a farmer before relocating to Arizona with hes family. He retired from the city of Phoenix where he worked in the water department as a water meter reader. Don is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, Gayle (Christina), Lyle (Laura); daughter, Patricia; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 2 at Green Acres Glendale Mortuary. Interment was at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, Ariz.
Memorial services for Dorothy Christians of Herman will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Herman. Reverend Mickey Olson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Dorothy Mae Christians was born to Herman and Bertha (Quam) VanZomeren on their family farm, October 6, 1947, in rural Herman. Growing up she truly enjoyed all aspects of the farm life, never shying away from a hard days work.
Funeral services for Loretta Kampmeier of Chokio will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio. Father Peter VanderWeyst will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chokio. Loretta Helen Fritsch, daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Ryan) Fritsch, was born January 17, 1915 in Chokio, Minnesota, where she grew up and was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Loretta attended and graduated from Chokio High School.
Funeral services for Lester "Buster" Willert were held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. He was laid to rest at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Chokio on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. Buster was born July 4, 1924 in Boyden, Iowa to August and Louise Willert. His family moved to Chokio in 1933 where they farmed. On Sept. 10,1942, he was united in marriage to Lenore Grossman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio by Father Hennenkamp. Following the wedding they made their home in Chokio. He worked for Olson's Implement in Chokio for many years.
Funeral services for Kathryn "Katie" Anderson will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, MN. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Kathryn Rose Anderson was born August 27, 1990 in Two Harbors, Minnesota and was adopted by Gary and Rose Anderson. Katie was baptized on December 23, 1990 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN by Reverend John R.
Leann Marie Dick, age 24, of Onigum passed away at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. She was born on June 3, 1985 in Bemidji to Lester "Wheels" Dick and Carol White. She graduated from Walker Hackensack Akeley High School in 2003. She attended Leech Lake Tribal College graduating valedictorian of Liberal Arts in 2009. Leann continued her Environmental Science Biology degree at the University of Minnesota, Morris.
