Violet Meyer, age 85, of Hoffman, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services for Violet Meyer will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, Hoffman. Friends may call at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman on Wednesday from 4-8 pm; visitation will resume at the church one hour prior to the service Thursday morning. Millicent Edith Schmidgall, age 89, formerly of Burnsville, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother died peacefully Nov. 9, 2009. She was preceded in death by husband Ray Schmidgall, father and mother, James and Mary McDonnell; sisters Anne Andersen and Jean Nelson; daughters Karen, Joyce and Beverly. She is survived by children, Ruth Kearney, Robert, Janice (Sam) Boe, Patricia (Steven) Monson, Joanne Hafdahl, Dwayne (Terri), Debra (Gary) Wray, Larry (Marcy), Charlie (Cathy), Christine (Kent) Leman; 29 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Helen E. (Raba) Amborn, age 61, of Rapid City, S.D. died on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Helen was born in Walworth County, S.D. to Martin and Katherine (Kosters) Raba on Jan. 6, 1948. She attended grade school in Selby and high school in Java. She graduated in 1966 and went on to college at Northern State in Aberdeen where she received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Her first teaching assignment was in Mobridge from 1970 to 1975. She also taught in Lower Brule for three years. In 1978 she began teaching in the Douglas School District.
Myron George 'Butch' Andert was born on Aug. 11, 1936 in Morris, the son of Alvin C. and Mae L. (Hendrickson) Andert. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Alberta and attended school in Albert a. On Dec. 22, 1977, Butch was united in marriage to RoseDelle L. (Peterson) Black in Watertown, S.D.. Butch was employed in the road construction business during his working years and enjoyed doing 'handyman' work for anyone that need a helping hand. He liked fishing, camping, sitting around and building bonfires and racing. Butch was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation and time of sharing for Joel Keith Sperr, 53, of Wheaton will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. Joel passed away on Nov. 4, 2009 at his residence in Wheaton. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Herman. The Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton and Herman is in charge of arrangements. Joel Keith Sperr, raised in California but rooted in the State of Minnesota he dearly loved so much, passed unexpectedly in Wheaton on Nov. 4, 2009. He was born on Jan.

Duane Jon "Tiny" Bratton, son of Ralph and Edna (Helgerson) Bratton, was born December 1, 1958 in Starbuck, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm near Cyrus and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus.
