Betty McGinnis of Morris died on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 88 years. Funeral services for Betty McGinnis will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris. www.pedersenfh.com
Arnold Jerome Auel was born Jan. 11, 1925, in Leaf River Township, Wadena County, the son of George and Gladys (Lawson) Auel. Arnold's baptism was at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wadena. In June 1938, he was confirmed catholic as Arnold Jerome William Auel. Arnold was raised and schooled in the Wadena area. Following his schooling he worked alongside his father on farms in Minnesota and North Dakota to help support the family. In 1943 Arnold was drafted into the US Navy.
Donald Kenneth Wilson passed away comfortably on Feb. 27, 2010 at Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. Services were on Wednesday, March 3, at 11 a.m. Military rites were provided by the Morris American Legion, AmVets and VFW. Donald Kenneth Wilson, son of Charles and Louise (Burmeister) Wilson, was born March 1, 1917 in Iona. He grew up in Slayton. Upon graduation from high school he joined the CCC, where he served for 2 years in the Ely area. In 1937, Don joined the Navy serving 8 years. He served on the USS Enterprise. He received an Honorable Discharge on Dec. 22, 1945.
Funeral services for Doris Bumann will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. Doris Helen Lottes, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Zarndt) Lottes, was born May 27, 1918 in New Salem, North Dakota, where she grew up and was baptized at the Evangelical Reformed Peace Church. She attended and graduated from New Salem High School.
Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Frank of Starbuck will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Fron Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Fron Lutheran Cemetery in Starbuck. Military rites will be provided by the Starbuck Honor Guard. Robert Harlan Frank, son of Arthur and Ruth (Oberg) Frank, was born Dec. 2, 1931 in Donnelly, where he grew up and began his schooling.
Funeral services for David Allen Haynes of Donnelly, will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, rural Donnelly. Reverend Judy Gelinski will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets. David Allen Haynes, son of Sally Schmidt Ahrendt, was born April 10, 1954 in Deadwood, S.D.
Funeral services for Opal Heuer of Edina, formerly of Morris will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Reverend John R. Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. Opal Annie Rahrlien, daughter of Mike and Marie (Podtburg) Rahrlien, was born Aug. 23, 1915 in Pepperton Township in Stevens County. Opal grew up and received her schooling in the Morris area. On Oct. 1, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orval Heuer.

Arie Raye Asche passed away in his mother's womb shortly before his birth on Thursday, Feb, 11, 2010 in Brookings, S.D. For nine months, as Arie grew in his mother's womb, he entertained us by kicking his brother Ayden off the couch and he was comforted by his sister Avery's voice.
Virginia (Ginny) Martin was born in Morris on March 10, 1923. She was often found climbing silos or riding down the sling of the haymow. Receiving a 22 caliber rifle for her tenth birthday, her cousins would often comment on hearing 22s zinging through the trees every once in a while. Her childhood nickname was "Toots" the name of her cousin's pony which he would let her ride during the summer. After high school she attended and graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul in 1946.
