Funeral services for Edna Smedstad of Morris will be held Friday, October 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Ali Boomershine will be officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Holmes City, Minnesota. Edna Olivia Nelson, daughter of Nels and Berthea (Unumb) Nelson, was born March 10, 1910 in Holmes City, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended country school. Following her schooling, she worked at the telephone office in Holmes City.
Funeral services for Martha Drewes of Morris will be held Friday, October 16, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Robert Jarvis will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris. Martha Beata Bertha Mumm, daughter of Oscar and Mary (Kruse) Mumm, born October 7, 1909 in Horton Township, Stevens County and baptized at Zion Lutheran by Rev. Pasche.
Funeral Services for Donna Engquist of Herman will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris with Father Peter VanderWeyst officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. (Rosary 6:30 p.m., Prayer Service 7 p.m.) at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Herman following a lunch at the church. Donna Jean Engquist, daughter of Louis and Mary (Kempf) Nagl, was born July 11, 1930, in Morris.
Marie C. Sunquist, age 84 of Cumberland, Wis., died on Oct. 2, 2009 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis. Marie Sunquist was born Nov. 21, 1924 in Minneapolis to Myrtle and Clifford Johnson. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1942. Marie was proud of her contributions during WWII as a Rosie the Riveter Inspector on B-52s for Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis. She also worked in Detroit, Mich. and Baltimore, Md. Marie met and fell in love with Herb Sunquist during roller skating and dancing dates. They married on June 28, 1945.
Fern (Mrs. Martin) Pasche, age 90 of Hoffman, died at her home on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. Funeral services for Fern Pasche will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of Hoffman. Friends may call at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 5-7 p.m.; visitation will resume at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Arrangements are with the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Hoffman.
Memorial services for Janet Riley of Hancock will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Janet Mae (Chavis) Riley was born Aug. 12, 1947. Jan grew up in Coon Rapids. She has lived in the Morris area for the last 20 years. Married 43 glorious years to the same soul mate and love of her life. Jan died on Tuesday, Sept.
Gilbert C. Hoogendoorn, age 82, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, S.D. Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at Netherlands Reformed Church, Sioux Center, Iowa. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley, Iowa. Rev. H. Hofman will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley, Iowa. Gilbert C. Hoogendoorn was born June 9, 1927 to John and Sadie (Van Abbema) Hoogendoorn in Lester, Iowa. He attended the Allison Twsp School #4.
Earl William Wevley, son of Karl and Carolina (Amundson) Wevley, was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Winneshiek County, Iowa. Earl's family moved to Barnesville in 1929. In 1939, the family moved to Morris and Earl worked as a farmhand for area farmers. On Dec. 28, 1944, Earl entered the US Army and served as a gun crewman on heavy artillery in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1946. Earl was united in marriage to Leola Marie Kussatz on Feb. 11, 1946; seven children were born to this union. From 1954 to the 1990s, Earl farmed in Framnas Township, Stevens County.
Funeral services for Shirley Vogt will be held on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and services at 10:30 AM all being held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN with Pastor Eugene Andrus officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Nathan Vogt, Joshua Moeller, Daniel Kock, Jonathan Kock, Adam Kock, and Eric Kiero. Honorary pallbearer is Shirley's Great-grandson Evan Kiero. Shirley Rose Fuhrman was born August 31, 1938, to Walter and Louise (Zimmerman) Fuhrman in Graceville, MN.

Margaret Elizabeth Miller, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Holland) Braun, was born May 7, 1932 at the Barrett Ranch in Herman, Minnesota.
