Funeral services for Dorothy Eleanor Schott of Graceville, formerly of Chokio, were held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Catholic Church in Chokio. Father Tim Baltes officiated. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Chokio. Dorothy Eleanor Schott was born on March 25, 1917 in Havana, N.D. to Adlow and Rosetta (Bauman) Parrow. She was the oldest of thirteen children. Her father was a farmer and the family moved several times as Dorothy was growing up. They lived for a time near Clinton, then moved near Ortonville where they lived for ten years.
Bertha Hilda (Bendt) Krause, age 93 of Great Falls, Mont. died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at a local nursing home from natural causes. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial service will be held at a later date. A private burial will be held in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery. Bertha is survived by her sisters; Ella Bendt of Morris and Hazel Dupree of Tillamook, Ore., son-in-law John P.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary "Betty" Miller was held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Fr. David Breu officiating. Burial was in Consolidated Cemetery in Graceville. Mary "Betty" Miller, the daughter of John and Mary (Nash) Keeler, was born on May 26, 1921 in St. Paul. Betty and her family moved to the Barry area when she was very young. Betty lived most her life in Big Stone County where she attended St. Mary's School for 11 years. Betty was united in marriage to James Arthur Miller on Oct. 13, 1940. They made their home on a farm near Barry.
Memorial services for Gladwyn "Bud" Kaehler will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Robert Jarvis will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Horton Township. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, VFW and AmVets. Gladwyn August Kaehler, son of Alfred and Amelia (Knopp) Kaehler, was born May 16, 1927 in Morris. He grew up in Synnes Township in Stevens County and attended country school in rural Alberta.
Rex A. Varnum, age 86, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Caledonia Care and Rehab. He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Little Falls, to George and Edna (Beimel) Varnum. He attended the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota in Morris. On Sept. 5, 1943, Rex married Selma Blair in Morris, and they were blessed with three daughters. In 1961, they moved to Fargo, N.D., where Rex worked in sales for Crane Plumbing and Heating. Rex and Selma then moved to Mankato, where they owned and operated a Coast to Coast Hardware Store.
Funeral services for Roy Alvin Jesness of Morris will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN. Reverend John R. Smith will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 11 AM at West Wind Village in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Scandia West Cemetery, rural Cyrus. Roy Alvin Jesness, son of Alfred and Clara (Carlson) Jesness, was born May 14, 1914 in Swan Lake Township in Stevens County, Minnesota.
Theodore Waskosky, age 93 of Elbow Lake, died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at Nidaros Lutheran Church in rural Clitherall with Pastor Harry Olson officiating. Music is provided by violinist: Mary Waskosky; organist: Diane Bjerketvedt; and vocalists: Chris Christopherson and Marge Naylor. Casketbear-ers are: Kyle Waskosky, Ben Waskosky, Carter Griffith, Jason Endreson, T. J. Waskosky, and Mike Waskosky.

Carmen S. Rodriguez, age 83, of Monticello passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. She was born on July 16, 1926 in San Salvador, El Salvador, the daughter of Salvador Sanchez Cisneros and Teresa Rodriguez. She grew up and attended school in San Salvador. She met Edwin Huber in San Salvador and this union was blessed with two sons. She spent her time caring for her sons and working closely with her mother as a cook. Carmen remained in El Salvador until her mother passed away.
The Rev. Herbert S. Zimmerman of Carbondale, IL passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 surrounded by loving family members and secure in his faith. He was born on May 1, 1923 in New Leipzig, North Dakota, the eighth of nine children of Gottlieb and Johanna Zimmerman. In May, 1946 he graduated from Yankton Theological Seminary in Yankton, SD and was ordained a minister in the Congregational Church, a calling he followed throughout his life. He served United Church of Christ congregations throughout the Northern Plains and West, most notably in Idaho, North and South Dakota and Minnesota.
