Theodore Waskosky, age 93 of Elbow Lake died on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at Nidaros Lutheran Church in rural Clitherall with Pastor Harry Olson officiating. Music is provided by violinist: Mary Waskosky; organist: Diane Bjerketvedt; and vocalists: Chris Christopherson and Marge Naylor. Casketbearers are: Kyle Waskosky, Ben Waskosky, Carter Griffith, Jason Endreson, T. J. Waskosky, and Mike Waskosky. Funeral Home in Henning was in charge of arrangements.
Carmen S. Rodriguez, age 83, of Monticello passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. She was born on July 16, 1926 in San Salvador, El Salvador, the daughter of Salvador Sanchez Cisneros and Teresa Rodriguez. She grew up and attended school in San Salvador. She met Edwin Huber in San Salvador and this union was blessed with two sons. She spent her time caring for her sons and working closely with her mother as a cook. Carmen remained in El Salvador until her mother passed away.
The Rev. Herbert S. Zimmerman of Carbondale, IL passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 surrounded by loving family members and secure in his faith. He was born on May 1, 1923 in New Leipzig, North Dakota, the eighth of nine children of Gottlieb and Johanna Zimmerman. In May, 1946 he graduated from Yankton Theological Seminary in Yankton, SD and was ordained a minister in the Congregational Church, a calling he followed throughout his life. He served United Church of Christ congregations throughout the Northern Plains and West, most notably in Idaho, North and South Dakota and Minnesota.
Memorial services for Alice Hebert of Starbuck will be held Monday, September 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. Alice's grandchildren will be presiding over the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Alice Margaret Ecklund, daughter of John and Anna (Johannsdotter) Ecklund, was born June 19, 1914 in Quiring Township in North Beltrami County, Minnesota. She attended Kelliher High School, graduating in 1932. On June 30, 1935, she was united in marriage to Leo Hebert. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their two children.
Funeral services for Helen V. Lawson of Herman, will be held Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Herman. Reverend Mickey Olson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Herman and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date at Pepperton Cemetery, rural Alberta. Helen Virginia Fynboh Lawson was born January 12, 1919 in Lyon County, Minnesota to Carl and Cora Fynboh. While still an infant her family moved to the Sebeka, area where she grew up.
Karni Spain Tiernan, age 68, passed away August 5, 2009 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Karni was born July 15, 1941 to James and Margaret (Lawrence) Spain. She grew up in Parkersburg, Iowa and graduated from Parkersburg High School. Karni received her degree in speech and education at the University of Northern Iowa. She taught in the Iowa Falls schools from 1964-1970. Karni married Stephen Daniel Tiernan in May, 1969. Karni taught at Bradley University from 1978-2008. She loved education, literature, and sports.
Funeral services for Herbert Drewes of Morris will be held Monday, Aug. 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Todd Mattson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be held at a later date.
Richard A. Odden, age 61, of rural Otter Tail City died on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009 in his home. Visitation will be on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. Funeral services will be held after the visitation on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Eidskog Cemetery in Ortonville. Richard "Dick" Alfred was born on July 13, 1948 in Big Stone County, Ortonville to parents Alfred and Delores (Roeder) Odden. Dick graduated from Chokio High School in 1966.
Funeral services for Warren O. Aaberg of Starbuck will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Minnewaska Lutheran Church in Starbuck with Rev. Todd Klemme officiating. Visitation will be at Starbuck Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., and at Minnewaska Lutheran Church one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Burial will be at the Minnewaska Cemetery. Warren Otis Aaberg, son of Hans and Clara (Dokken) Aaberg, was born Oct.
Christian Funeral Mass for Robert "Bob" R. Martinson will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at St. Boniface Catholic Church of Cold Spring. Robert Martinson was born on July 19, 1930 in Madelia to Norvin and Delvina (Meyers) Martinson and died on July 31, 2009 at Sterling Park Nursing Home, Waite Park. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery; Morris at 4 p.m. Visitation with family will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to mass. Arrangements were entrusted with the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.
