Lorna Waterhouse, formerly of Hopkins, died Friday, June 19, 2009 with family at her side at GracePointe Crossing, in Cambridge, MN. She had just celebrated her 86th birthday. Born to William and Lorna Kloos of Donnelly, Minnesota, daughter Lorna was the eldest of four children, including brothers Bill, Herb and John. Lorna loved life and was gregarious, even as a child, but she was also a serious student and graduated valedictorian from Alberta Public High School in 1941. Though she grew up on the family farm, she was drawn to the city for college and work.
Funeral services for Margery Koehl of Morris will be held Friday, July 31, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Apostolic Christian Church, rural Morris. The Apostolic Christian Ministers will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Margery Elizabeth Koehl, daughter of Chris and Elizabeth (Messner) Koehl, was born August 3, 1913 in Larchwood, Iowa.
Funeral services for Walter Reimers of Morris will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Robert Jarvis will be officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Synnes Cemetery, rural Alberta. Walter Peter Reimers, son of Mathias Jr. and Eliesabeth (Giese) Reimers, was born March 10, 1907 in Synnes Township in Stevens County, where he grew up and attended country school.
Funeral services for Sophia Rebbecca Lenmark will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at 9 a.m. at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Private interment. Memorials preferred to Minneapolis Children's Hospital NICU Unit or Minneapolis Children's Hospital Heart Fund, 2525 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55404. Washburn-McReavy - Edina was in charge of arrangements. Sophia Rebbecca Lenmark was born on July 21, 2009 to Daniel and Allison (Thompson) Lenmark at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial Services for Elmer Meierding Jr. of Hancock will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 PM at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Elmer Louis Meierding Jr., son of Elmer Sr. and Elsie (Ohnesorge) Meierding, was born June 9, 1941, at his parent's home in Clements, Minnesota where he grew up and was baptized at Morgan Methodist Church and confirmed at New Avon Methodist Church.
Memorial services for Harvey Schlieman were held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fairfield Township. Pastor Donald Klatt officiated. Joann Schliep was the organist. Honorary bearers were all of Harvey's nieces and nephews. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Harvey August Schlieman was born on July 2, 1923, at Fairfield Township in Swift County, to Frank C. and Alma (Rohloff) Schlieman. He was baptized on Aug. 5, 1923 and confirmed in 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Fairfield Township.
Funeral services for Gary Dybdahl, of Clinton, will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8pm at the church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Minister Bev McNeill will officiate. Burial will be held at the Clinton City Cemetery. Gary Arthur Dybdahl, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Peterson) Dybdahl, was born Feb. 4, 1944 in Viborg, S.D. He lived in Centerville, S.D. with his parents from the time he was born in 1944 until 1952.
Arthur (Bud) Leonard Olson, age 95 passed away on July 12, 2009. He was at home with family, resting peacefully in recovery from recent surgeries. Bud grew up in the rural Midwest where his parents, Sigvart and Sigrid Olson, emigrated from Norway at the turn of the century and homesteaded a forty-acre parcel outside of Alberta. As one of eight children, he worked the family farm and helped break virgin soil, walking behind a horse and drag plow. In 1942, at age 29, he was drafted into the Army Air Corps.
Myrtle A. Dahl, age 97 of Moorhead, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead. She is survived by a son, Curtis Dahl, Fargo, N.D.; three daughters, Yvonne Anderson, Glenwood, JoAnn (Robert) Stone, Fargo, and Sharol (Richard) Filipi, Park Rapids; and a sister, Ann Frederick, Fairborn, Ohio. Funeral services for Myrtle Dahl will be held Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m. at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Saturday, July 25 from 1 - 2 p.m. at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo, N.D. Burial will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 1 p.m.
Edward Jerome Lesmeister was born on May 2, 1934 in Glenwood to Matthew and LaVern (Voit) Lesmeister. He attended and graduated from Glenwood and went on to attend two years of college at St. John's University. Ed was united in marriage to Carole Hillier on November 20, 1954 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glenwood. They spent the majority of their married life in Rochester, coming to Alexandria in 1990. Ed worked in the auto business all of his life; most recently at Auto Value in Alexandria. Ed enjoyed his years of hunting, fishing and trapshooting.
